After inking a deal with Turkish team Besiktas in late November, Allen Iverson has finally arrived in Turkey to begin preparation to resume his basketball career.
Iverson landed in Istanbul Monday, November 8 and was greeted by throngs of cheering fans. The former NBA MVP signed a two-year deal with Besiktas worth $4 million with an opt-out clause after the end of the first season. Iverson’s contact is also laden with incentives and bonuses.
It looks like Turkey has rolled out the red carpet for this former NBA talent. It must be nice to know that someone still wants you. Now, it is off to practice for Iverson. Wait a minute…he hates practice.
“We’re sitting here, and I’m supposed to be the franchise player, and we’re talking about practice. I mean listen, we’re sitting here talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we’re talking about practice. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game last it’s my last but we’re talking about practice man. How silly is that?” I wonder how that translates in Turkish.
