Send Squatch to OKC

We here at the Beef reported on the Seattle Supersonics’ mascot, Squatch, who recently traveled to Portland as the Blazers hosted the Oklahoma City Thunder. He came bearing a sign that read “Homeless.” No one word sums up his plight more.

The video above features more footage of Squatch at the game. What it also features is an open request to help send Squatch directly to the belly of the beast or in this case the boring sprawl of chain restaurants, especially Toby Keith’s, and unattractive, ethanol hating simple people known as Oklahoma. (Please, do not think that the above is harsh. The Beef is written by Texans. As Texans we detest everything about that lump just north of the Red River.)

We whole heartily support the notion of sending Squatch to a game at the Ford Center. Here are the details:

Squatch the Sonic’s Mascot took a road trip down the 5 to Portland earlier this week (Nov. 4th) to attend the TrailBlazers/Thunders game. His sign says it all.

“HOMELESS”

But Portland was one thing… Let us, SONICS FANS, band together and send SQUATCH down to a Thunders game IN OKLAHOMA CITY!

Any donation will be appreciated. From the penny you used to check the treads on your tires to the money in your childhood piggy bank; any bit counts.

We have not decided which game SQUATCH will attend just yet but if this takes off, we will update everyone.

If we don’t get enough funds, we will either refund everything or donate it to a local charity. The people organizing this are doing so voluntarily and are not paid. All the money collected will go towards the price of airline and game tickets and a motel for SQUATCH and somebody that will act like a security guard. From the reaction he got in Portland, it is clear he will need one in OKC even though he’s 6’8″.

Donations can be sent via PayPal to SQUATCH2OKC@GMAIL.COM. Please send it as a gift so that fees are not subtracted out.

We will be as transparent as possible with the donations. If anybody has any questions please send us a message at that email or right here on facebook and we will update.

Thank you for your support!!

We have expressed our solidarity with Sonicsgate in the past, though we have no affiliation with them directly as we are simply supporters of the cause. This is yet another cause that needs to be supported. Spread the word. We’ll make the drive up 35 if Squatch makes the trip. Good luck!
